4. AI Processing and Third-Party AI Providers

ReplyType uses artificial intelligence to provide writing assistance. When you use AI features, your content is sent to our AI providers for processing:

Important: We do not use your content to train AI models. Your creative work remains yours. AI providers process your data solely to provide the requested service and do not retain your content for training purposes under our agreements with them.

5. Chrome Extension

The ReplyType AI Writer Chrome extension provides AI-powered writing assistance directly in your browser. Here's how the extension handles your data:

5.1 Data Collected by the Extension

• Selected Text: When you use the extension to rewrite, expand, or process text, only the text you explicitly select is sent to our servers.
• API Key: Your API key is stored locally in Chrome's secure storage and is only used to authenticate requests to ReplyType servers.
• Preferences: Your extension settings (toolbar position, theme, etc.) are stored locally in your browser.

5.2 Data NOT Collected

• We do not track your browsing history
• We do not collect any data when the extension is idle
• We do not inject ads or tracking scripts into web pages
• We do not sell or share your data with third parties

5.3 Permissions Explained

• activeTab: Access to the current tab only when you click the extension or use a keyboard shortcut, to read selected text.
• storage: Store your API key and preferences locally in Chrome.
• contextMenus: Add ReplyType options to the right-click menu.
• clipboardRead/Write: Copy processed text to your clipboard when requested.

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Clerk: Authentication and user management. Clerk Privacy Policy

7. Data Retention

• Content: Retained until you delete it or close your account
• Account Data: Retained for the life of your account plus 30 days
• Usage History: Retained for 12 months for analytics
• Payment Records: Retained for 7 years for tax compliance

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including:
